The RADEON graphics card that he mention ” With HD and fan” Is it compatible with any PC?

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr dollars everywhere!!!!!

can you also include £ prices (not converted, actuall UK store prices)

its impossibl to find a good gaming PC under £800

people say in the US you can run crysis maxed out with just $400 which is around £800.

PCworld rips ppl of un the UK.

Comment from fpsd0minat0r
Time: February 2, 2009, 8:45 am

9800GTX is £150 in UK

and its $160 WTF!!!!!!

do these things break down and is it possible to end up buying a fake one if u go on e-bay????

once i bought a fake memory stick for psp so im double minded about going online.

Comment from wolly1988

im with you on that one. all the cheap parts are american. we soo do get ripped of here.

Comment from fpsd0minat0r
Time: February 2, 2009, 9:38 am

lol i just realised i said £800.

$400 is £280

i tried getting a custom one built at arbico and wired2fire.

any quad core with a 9800GTX or HD4850 will go over £1000 even without a monitor.

im never gonna be getting a gaming PC cus the PC exclusives aint worth the price.

im just gonna play killzone 2 and if im buying any hardware its gonna be a logitech G25 to go with gran turismo 5.

Comment from SmokingJoePot
Time: June 1, 2009, 11:30 am

get the GeForce 9800 GTX+ OC 1gb DDr3 for 200, its the best, its a 8800GT but with better cooling, I can run crysis all high on 1680×1050 16AA w/30 fps. Dual slot single cards with higher ddr like 3, 4 or 5 are better they keep cooler, but now they have dual cards single slot (2 graphics cards in one slot with 2 gpus on one card) those are better but much more expensive like 300, if I get one of those, i would get the ATI Radeon 4870X2 or the 9800 GTX+OC x2 but you’ll need more power supply.

Would a ATI Radeon 4850 fit into my computer? Its a HP from christmas 2006. I got a radeon x1600 512mb graphics card in it right now and i think its time for a change. Would it fit in where my x1600 is now or would i have to buy a whole new motherboard?

Being that this is over 6 months ago I figure the price is dropped on the Radeon HD 4850 but I’m not sure. I want this if it can handle Fallout 3 on Ultra with HD textures. Will it or am I going to have to shell over $300+ for a monster video card?! Tight budget…..

Comment from XDarkNazgulX
Time: July 17, 2009, 3:16 am

I love this video for going on Newegg and looking at the prices of graphic cards. To be honest, on July 16, 2009, I bought a XFX 9800 GTX+ for $99 on that site. It was re certified but I bought a re-certified XFX 9600 GT and it worked. Newegg FTW

Comment from purewolfgod1
Time: July 20, 2009, 6:44 pm

there are many games these days that require good graphics cards. elder scrolls VI oblvion is a great example. the better the graphics cards the more possibilities for the game. it can become far more in depth to the player.

Comment from purewolfgod1
Time: July 20, 2009, 6:46 pm

you are an idiot. you cant say a graphics suck then say if the computer cant handle the games then it sucks. its plain stupidity and contradictory. most computers these days need better graphics cards if they want to even play the games…

Comment from firefatkid
Time: July 20, 2009, 8:49 pm

wow fuck you and a go fuck yourself. but what i am saying is if your computer cant play wow then your COMPUTER SUCKS, and no matter what you do the graphics for wow will suck.

Comment from purewolfgod1
Time: July 20, 2009, 11:05 pm

i know what you meant. its still retarded to say graphics suck then say if the computer cant handle a game it sucks. if you really thought that then you would have a crappy computer and only play crappy looking flash games that you thought were fun since for some reason graphics suck and you obviously dont care about them if you say they suck. but then your computer would suck. so either way, all computers suck huh?the better the gpu the better the computer performance, and gaming possibility.

Comment from charleshoskinson

Buy an AMD Phenom ii X4 945 with an ASUS Mobo. 4GB DDR 3 OCZ Ram and an HSI Radeon 4850 1GB. $450 bucks off tigerdirect and you will be able to play every single game on the market in good quality. Spend another 130 and get another 4850 with crossfire, then you can play everything in high quality.

Comment from charleshoskinson

Internal 6 pin connectors from the power supply. Most of these cards require at least a 500 watt power supply. Buy a 750 to have expansion room

Comment from FreePersiaForAll

Mine runs Crysis/Warhead (both) on max with 1080p resultions and perfect frame rates. I don’t know why people hesitate to buy better graphic cards when they are so cheap. I can understand why people buy cheaper processors, because those can go upto 1000 dollars, but they very best graphic cards go up to 400.

9800 is a must.. i do not know how both are the same price. the 9 series debut in 2008 and performs alot better.the 6 series debut in late 2004.of course you need to check powersupply requirements. the 9800 would need 450 watt power supply because it consumes about 300watts. 6800 would run fine in anything.500w power supply is cheap. diablotek $40-50

I just got the ATI Radeon Sapphire HD 4890.I was thinking about geting something from the 5-series but 4890 was the best I could get without getting compability issues from my motherboard.HD 4890 is a great buy, definitely a lot of performance for the relatively good price.

Comment from ungureanudoru

If you got a PCi-express x16 slot ,yes you can put any graphic card. But deppends of your chipset too.If you got a nvidia chipset , you may put only nvidia cards, and if you got a ATi chipset , you may put only ATi cards. And then, you must check your power supply,if it has enough power and Amps on the 12 V rail , and a 6 pin or 8 pin cable, for the newest graphic cards.

The latest mid-range nvidia card (as of Nov 2009) is the nvidia gt 240. It’s has slightly better gaming performance than the geforce 9600gt. Also, the gt 240’s improved perfomance for video editing/photo retouching and blueray movie playback plus its lower power requirement makes it the perfect budget card. I recommend the version with 1GB GDDR5. You wont find a better nvidia card without also having to upgrade your psu beyond 350 watts.

Comment from heyyurDEAD
Time: November 30, 2009, 3:19 am

do you recommend this card, GeForce 9400 GT 512MB. this card will work with 300 watt power supply. and its 35 bucks on neweggs. is it worth it or could i get more bang for my buck.

Comment from TheSloBoy
Time: November 30, 2009, 8:56 am

@heyyurDEAD well if you will not be gaming it’s a good price but it’s extremly low-end

Comment from heyyurDEAD

what really? oh what do you recommend. i dont really want to upgrade my power supply but if i have too, how many watts should i get? im kinda on a budget.

Comment from txmoney
Time: December 1, 2009, 9:48 am

@heyyurDEAD: Whats your budget? If you want to cap at $100, I suggest the gt240 because you get the most performance with lower power consumption. However, if you want a card below $50, the 9400GT isn’t bad. You can play most modern games, albeit with the games graphics/perfomance settings on low to medium.

Comment from heyyurDEAD
Time: December 1, 2009, 3:07 pm

thanks for the suggestion. my budget cap is 100, right now im leaning on the gt240. could i run 2008/2009 games on max settings and get good to okay fps with this card. lets say my budget is 150 could i get a better card. and does it make a big difference. thank you xD

Comment from txmoney
Time: December 1, 2009, 3:23 pm

Yes, the gt240 will run all modern games fairly well at medium to high levels. However, dont expect super high fps performance at high to ultra high settings. Remember…this is still a budget graphics card. That means its not a high-end card and therefore you will not get high-end performance. A $150 budget wont help since you would probably have to upgrade your psu.

If I wanted to be able to play games on my pc (Microsoft Windows XP, Dell Dimension Desktop 4600i, Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.06GHz), should I just buy around a £100 graphics card, shove it in, and expect it to work? That would be a huge upgrade, Though if you’re at that price point I would take a look at ATI’s 4870 or 4890, both cheaper and stronger than the 260. BTW I’m in you’re same situation lol.

Comment from GF9400GT

@HarpyTV It costs now 160€ I think I wait until the 360 GTX and 380 GTX come out in january and then the price will go down (for 200 series). Then I buy a 260 for like 70€ or a 295 GTX for 160€. (That’s my speculation) If this happens not so early I wait to march or longer.I want a cheap video card.

A really good card would be the PNY Geforce 9800GT. Its really better than the previous 9800 ones because this one is 1GB of ram unlike the other 9800s that have I think 512MB

@kipdokken But the ATI Radeon HD4870!It has got 800 stream processors and outperforms the GTX260. If you overclock it you can easily reach the GTX280 performance!I bought one for only €150.

Comment from Leignheart
Time: March 15, 2010, 6:25 pm

why would someone spend more than 300 bucks on a video card? why would someone spend 40000 on a car rather than 10000? thats just an uneducated question. more expensive doesnt always mean better, but when it comes to cars houses and electronics it sure as hell does. my 700 dollar video card can outrun your 300 dollar video card 3 times. 3 times as fast atleast. not 10 frames. and certain things do require a 700 dollar video card. you can enjoy midrange, just dont think its better. cause it isnt.

Comment from Leignheart
Time: March 15, 2010, 6:27 pm

dude i own an xbox elite, and i bought the ati 5970 which costed me 750 bucks. so your not correct. if you wanna buy a gts 250 just cause you like the price then your just getting crap. dont expect to do alot with it. if you dont do much on the pc then its just fine. but if you do then the card is not good enough. you use a gts 250 for a physics card preferably, not a graphics card.

Comment from spiderpig85
Time: March 15, 2010, 11:28 pm

Im not saying its better, but they can both run the same games, and the difference in detail within said games is negligible. For an extra $400 you would have to be a “hardcore gamer” to care at all…Cars and GPU’s are not even close to the same thing, so a comparison is pointless.

Comment from thegodfatherdany

im not an idiot, i know the fundemental differences to Cars and gpu’s spiderpig. but your point is moot. just because cars and gpus are fundamentally different doesnt mean they dont share the same relevance. you can compare things even though they are different ya know. Thats how you learn spiderpig. You compare, you analyze. but i imagine you dont get it. and the differences are not negligible, your talking to someone who owned computers with every gpu under the sun. you just have no experience

Your simply trying to make excuses to justify spending an entire weeks wage on a video card.

Comment from spiderpig85
Time: March 16, 2010, 9:31 pm

Also, cars don’t get outdated within a few years. Cars retain value far into the future. Spending 40k on a car is a status symbol. A car will get you laid, lol, and a video card will do none of those things. The comparison is pointless because it’s apples and oranges.

@yorgishmorgis not any better than a single good graphic card that can handle whatever game your talking about at maximum settings. The game decides how good the graphics are not the graphics card. Unless your graphic card cannot handle the game on max settings and therefore have to turn the settings down. Also it depends what 2 graphics card. Crappy ones in SLI won’t be better than a very good one alone.

@GunnaLeeeeeee Monitor size and what games is important too.I get the feeling you’re not using a crazy monitor?1080p or lower? Also if you want to play more mainstream kind of games like the FEAR games, COD games, Mass Effect games, Bioshock games, Assassin’s Creed games, and anything on the source engine, a 9800 GTX+ will be plenty for them if you have a decent CPU and RAM and are doing 1080p or lower.

@GunnaLeeeeeee Don’t get any of those. Get the 4890. On Amazon it’s 120 quid and is better than all of those, except it doesn’t have DX11 which the 5770 does, but 1gb of GDDR5 with more stream processors and texturing units etc. means regardless of DX11 it will run better. There are only like 2 games out for DX11 anyway so get a 4890.

@GunnaLeeeeeee We need the resolution not the size. :) And about the graphics card… Go for the 5770 if the 4890 is too expensive in the US.
