Unbeatable at This Price Point,
I purchased this graphics card to use with my HTPC. I only have two complaints about this card, and they are pretty minor considering the excellent quality of the video/audio and the price of this card.
Cons:
* If you are putting on the half-height bracket for use in a slimline computer, you will need to remove the VGA adapter. The VGA adapter thumb screws on the full height bracket were so tight I had to use a special screwdriver to remove them (lucky for me I have a little computer repair kit that had the required screwdriver in it).
* After this device is plugged into the computer, it will not recognize the HDMI/DVI ports until you install the drivers (and DirectX if you don’t have it already). Also, once installed, the onboard VGA adapter is immediately disabled. As a result, if you installed the half-height bracket and removed the VGA adapter from the HD4350 card, you won’t be able to use a display to install the drivers!!! I had to remove the case from the computer, plug the VGA adapter back into the card, and connect my monitor to the VGA adapter while the case was still off. Once I got the drivers installed (which was fairly painless) and verified the HDMI/DVI ports were working, I disconnected the VGA adapter and put the case back on the computer.

Video Great, Sound So So,
I bought the Gigabyte ATI Radeon because it was one of the few inexpensive video cards with a HDMI output. I was looking to connect the computer to my Samsung HDTV and watch movies from Netflix. The video feed to the TV works fine. I have a 35 foot cable connecting the computer to the TV and I can stream instant movies from Netflix at HD quality. The problem is the sound. If you feed the sound to the TV through HDMI then sound will not play on the computer speakers. If you feed sound to the computer speakers then it will not play through the HDMI. I’ve updated the drivers and adjusted the “manage audio devices” to no avail. The problem may be Windows VISTA but I’m blaming the video card because ATI should provide a solution since the HDMI feed (video and sound) is through the video card. Right now I just play the sound over the computer speakers and watch the movie on the big screen. That seems to work pretty good.
Here’s a hint that might save you some trouble. When you initially plug the HDMI cable into the video card and turn on the TV, your computer speakers will stop working. Just go into the control panel, select hardware and sound, then select “manage hardware devices” under Sound. Change the default from HDMI to Speakers. Apparently the video card automatically switched the default to HDMI. You might also have to go into the device manager and disable and then enable your sound card to get the computer speakers to work again (I did).
