style = “clear: both;” /> class=”crVerifiedStripe”> Buy Amazon Verified ( What ) class=”h3color tiny”> This review is from: IOGEAR USB 2.0 External DVI Video Card GUC2020DW6 (Electronics) This time I ordered the same thing as a widescreen monitor with 1920×1080 resolution without giving him too hard a look, because it was sold by D * ll as an accessory for the monitor. After installation, the highest resolution it will give me is 1280×1024. (See the image I uploaded to the top of the product. )
I spent an hour on the phone with tech support before IOGEAR out that the highest resolution that ad on the box is 1600×1200. Not only this is not high enough, but none of the resolutions in the list, up to 640×480, will work with a wide screen (with some stretching / distortion of the video, anyway).
why D * ll sell a video adapter with a monitor does not support is beyond me. IOGear Why would produce a video adapter with the latest video adapter (DVI) and no widescreen support and no support hi-res, is beyond me. [Update: When I mentioned to D * ll, they allowed me to return and sent a UPS label so I did not have to pay return shipping costs. Moreover, D * ll charged 50% more than the Amazon for the same product.]
BTW, neither of the above limitations is indicated on the Amazon product page.
Edit:
I decided to order this from Amazon for use with an old 4:03 (1280×1024) monitor. When this control is dead, I replaced it with a 16:9 and just put the text on the screen so that the stretching does not matter much, and in early 2010, DisplayLink, which makes the driver came out with an updated driver that supports higher resolutions, but not as high as the typical 4:09 p.m. monitor. However, the stretch is less, although I always stick to the text on this monitor.
On October 15, 2010, DisplayLink software automatically installed the latest driver and still max resolution 1680×1050 (not 4:09 p.m.), even if the IOGEAR Web site says the highest resolution for this adapter is 1920×1080.

I am a software developer and I work from a laptop these days. I need portability. What I have always failed to have a desktop configuration was to have 2 or 3 monitors. Well, I ‘ was skeptical about this product, but bought anyway, and now I could not be happier. Well, it’s not very good with video applications or anything that requires graphics acceleration. C ‘Tho is ok, I have a main monitor that handles these things very well.
