Powered an 8800gt really well from a 500watt psu…i’d recomend getting one of these if you have an older (or smaller) power supply that does not have the 6pin PCI-e power connector. this is a life saver. and oh dont expect to pick this up off of the shelf at radio shack or walmart (not even circuit city!) good buy, good quality. finally you MUST have both of the normal 4 pin power connectors connected for a large card to work (8800gt)

Allowed my older ATX power supply to connect to a new PCI-E video card. I made sure to use 2 separate power lines.
