Q&A: I have an Aspire 6350, with an “Additive graphic card” option. How does it work?
Question by Ryan H: I have an Aspire 6350, with an “Additive graphic card” option. How does it work?
I bought an Aspire 6530, here specifically, and a large reason was that I could add a graphics card to make video games and such run better. But I cant find anything online on what I should buy, and how I can add it.
Is there a way? Does anyone know?
Here is the laptop I bought.

What you’re looking for is an ExpressCard-adpated graphics unit. Right now external graphics through ExpressCard is in the process of development/release. As you might tell from the amount of times I’ve used “Expresscard” that it connects through your ExpressCard card slot.
There aren’t that many for sale yet in the U.S., but if you’re lucky, you can find an ASUS XG Station for sale somewhere (but it won’t be cheap considering its around $ 300 for the dock alone). You just need to have an Expresscard slot. They’re only offering the 7900GS and 8600GT (desktop card) for the dock so far, but from the looks of the design you might fit other PCI-E x16 graphic cards into it in the future.
