This review is from: DIRT Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 3 edition 2GB DDR5 DL -DVI-I/SL-DVI-D/HDMI/DP PCI-Express graphics card 3SR-100 312 (Personal Computers)

I did a lot of research before deciding on this map. The main things that made me decide to buy it was;

1. High-quality components. This card is not a cheap version of a 6950 is a solid card with Japanese made capacitors (the best) and large construction.

2. Quiet! This card is 100% quieter than my last card, 4890. My wife loves it that my computer can not be heard in the other room right now!

3. Cool! This card runs very cool. The configuration with two fans did a great job keep it cool (and also why it is so quiet, the fans can operate at lower rpm and still provide more than one cooling fan).

4. Quick quick quick. This map, although not a reference model (to unlock the shaders) is still a very fast card. It scans all the games I throw at it, and I can finally run Crysis with max settings!

One thing to remember about baseline compared to non-reference cards is that when you unlock the shaders, you only get a performance gain of 3%, and that the price a hot race and the highest card (because of the unique fan).

Bottom line, if you are looking for a great clard that is fast, quiet, cool and has some overclocking, it’s the only one to get.

 5.0 out of 5 stars Best Bang for the buck out there right now , August 30, 2011

Deciding to go with the 2GB card was an easy choice because it is a “future proof” of all kinds. .. the extra 1 GB of VRAM might not be too pronounced in the benchmarks now, but may be in the future. So the extra VRAM will certainly be a factor if you run at high resolution (1920×1080 +), marks will be back that up. This card nips the heels of NVIDIA GTX 570 in benchmarks and is about $ 100 cheaper. The price to performance ratio is superb.
Decide on the Sapphire
Dirt 3 Ed card was also an easy choice. Sapphire is a manufacturer of quality that I had very good experiences with the past. This card is made with Japanese capacitors and a solid framework. Both fans and radiator hoses thickness keep this baby cool I get about 30C idle and 50-60C in charge while playing Bad Company 2 for long periods of time with max settings. It does not hurt that the card comes with two free games: Dirt 3 and a free copy of Deus Ex: HR (more on it later!). With the $ 20 discount and the price already incredible performance ratio, this card is probably the best bang for the buck right now in the high-end graphics cards.

A note on size: This card is a monster of about 11 inches in length. Currently, most cases of average fit very well this card, the card fits with plenty of room to spare in my Lian Li PC-7FN . It is also one to two PCI-E slot, so be prepared to give up the room for this baby. The map also requires two power connectors PCI-E from your diet. I read other critics complain that the subsidence map at the end because of the weight, but my card does not seem to sag at all.

game performance:

CPU: target = Intel Core i5-2500K Processor 3.3GHz 6 MB cache LGA1155 Socket

RAM: G. SKILL 8GB (4 x 2 GB) of memory X Series DDR3 Desktop Ripjaws 1600MHz 240-pin PC3-12800-F3-12800CL9D 8GBXL

PSU: 750W Antec Gamer

Mobo: Asus P8P67 Pro (rev 3.1)

Monitor: Samsung 2233BW 22 inch @ 1680×1050

-BFBC2: 80-90 fps max settings

-Crysis: 50-60 fps max settings

Witcher-2: 60-70fps max settings

NOTE REGARDING NO CODE DEUS EX:

As another said, you will not receive your code for Deus Ex: HR when you buy the card, nor apparently any time close to that. I ordered this card on August 20, he received 23, and have not received my code via email for Deus Ex Its now August 30th, so its been 10 days. I called to inquire about the Amazon, just me and the representative referred to the terms and conditions, which requires 7-10 business days. I do not understand why it can not be an immediate process, as with other sites (NewEgg). I will update this review when I received my code, just to give to others considering purchasing this card an idea of how long they may have to wait to receive this perck. A little ridiculous, and one in a series of steps backwards Amazon seemed to have taken over the past year, but not the map of the fault, can not delist of 5 stars.

EDIT 14/09/2011

I ended up having to call customer service from Amazon, after the 10th business day to inquire about my Deus Ex code. Apparently some sort of error, my code never made it into the system. The Customer Service Rep was great (they are always with Amazon) and intensified the problem to his supervisor, who then put in a ticket to get a new code within 24 hours. We finally get the code about 23 hours later, lol. Better late than never I suppose!

The map was perfect by the way. Did not have a problem maxing any game I threw at it again.

-non-ref 6950 Dirt 3 ed. handles modern games with ease

easy to overclock with the free program Sapphire TRIXX

stay-cool (as another reviewer comfirmed)

-32c at idle, doing nothing, 40 ~ 45c browsing web FF5, ~ 69c max after an hour or two of Bad Company 2, cod4, subway, etc.. Data was taken from the Windows Sidebar gadget Trixx 7 is

-2GB of GDDR5 memory with games using high resolution and AA

without coupon steam Dirt 3 inclusive

-dual bios to change the bios flashing naughty misadventures. Although defeats the purpose of flashing the BIOS, because AMD’s laser-cut 6970 additional shaders.

-HDMI (1.4a I think), DVI-VGA, a sticker of sapphire, the driver disk, two deck lights and two 4-pin PSU PCI-E adapters are included, as standard with the Sapphire video card i guess

-very quiet, so quiet, I thought of the RMA, as the fan

voucher to join the Sapphire Select Club included

-2 year warranty with registration on the website of Sapphire

-Supports AMD HD3D for those with BluRay drives, monitors and 3D games 3d

disadvantages;

-two cards in Crossfire only, no lights Triple X

no-flash 6970 shaders (just a heads up for those looking to unlock)

-great card for people with mid case, I think it’s around ~ 11in

-covers some locations so be sure your motherboard is big enough for two of these or a sound card if you wish

-hard to find bios pass

need an adapter-active display of 3-port configuration screen Eyefinity

other thoughts;

-needs two 6-pin power cables PCI-E, 500w psu min

-circuit has a blue

“I read somewhere online that this model uses Japanese capacitors to sapphire tweak the voltage is possible, I have not tried that

-have run 900/1350 with TRIXX

Conclusion
;

, IMHO, the best bang-for-buck 6950 out there, and even some more detail that the 6950 1GB card 2 GB GDDR5, row factor in the dirt 3 coupons, discounts and accessories, and cooler temperatures with the personalized, it’s a must buy in my view. It is a good overclocker too!

is a good video card. I can play all my games on the highest settings and the fps never drops below the mid-40 of the most demanding games, and well above the 60 consistantly in most games. Crysis II, II and Bioshock Masseffect all look amazing. FPS in Crysis II varies around 46-60 fps on high settings. Wei score is 7.9 for graphics. 3D Mark 11 Advanced is above 1709 and p5102 on performance parameters. the card can be easily overclocked to 950 and 1450, and will not be 76 degrees after avove stressning with FurMark for 30 minutes.

against

All cards are losing some of their glitter and shine inside your case, but this is especially true with this card. It looks like an ugly brick. They must have done something to adorn the side of the card to help with that. The name, or something blue and black stripes, nothing. Instead they went for a black rectangular box.

class=”h3color tiny”> This review is from: Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 2 GB Mini DP DL-DVI-I/SL-DVI-D/HDMI/Dual DDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card 100311-2SR (Personal Computers) PROS: Quiet, elegant design, excellent performance, and Free Games
CONS: None to date. I could say the price, but I do not mind paying for good quality
thoughts.:

Wow, I’m not sure where to start (I usually do not write reviews unless I am extremely please)! Originally I bought a 2GB MSI 6950HD, and returned it because it was out low FPS, strange behavior in games like Dirt 3, and sometimes crashed with vertical lines. I decided to go with the 6970 instead and I am convinced that this was the best decision I could have done.
First, this card is so quiet that I was first scared. I loaded Dirt 3 for some tests and the card was completely inaudible. In fact, in my case fans were louder than the card, and for the first time I could hear my hard drive turn … not even my 460GTX was as calm as this card.
far as performance, it works incredibly well in BF3 Beta (the main reason I bought this card). I got an average of 70FPS (1680×1050 resolution) with all the over all graphics settings set to High, and remains at Ultra. With settings completely maxed I had an average of 45fps, I would not recommend running the ultra BF3 with only one of these cards. I ran the card with stock settings, so maybe a little overclock (as calm and cool temperatures of the card) can help stimulate some performance on ultra settings.
Personally, I’m a big fan of this card aesthetics. I do not have a window on the side of my case so for someone who likes to show the interior, perhaps it is not as aesthetic. In my case, the elegant design blends well with the rest of the components.
I received a bonus coupon download Steam DeusEx Amazon and Dirt 3 coupons inside the box of the video card!
